Graphic design tips you need to know

You don’t have to own an art school degree or be a trained designer to create graphic designs for blog posts, social media posts, or online ads. Doing this is quite simple if you have the right program and if you know the right tips. As far as the program goes, Adobe Photoshop CS6 is one of the best options, as it is easy to use once you get the hang of it. Besides, there are plenty of free tutorials to teach you how to find your way around different tools. Here are five tips you need to know if you want to create impressive designs!

#1 Know where to start from

To begin with, you have to know the first step towards creating a design is choosing the color palette. Colors are a big deal here so you want to think before you throw some random ones at the canvas. Make sure you choose colors that go well with one another. If you’re not good at choosing colors yourself, you can always look up color palettes online. In fact, visit ColourHovers to find the palette you like and simply copy the hex code and paste it into your Adobe Photoshop palette and there you have it!

#2 Choosing the fonts

Whatever you do, don’t put more than two fonts into your design. There’s nothing worse than a design packed with different fonts. It’s cluttered, confusing, and not very aesthetics. Therefore, limit yourself to one or two fonts max to avoid your design looking weird. If you’re going to use two fonts, use one for the header and the other for the rest of the content to create a good structure and balance.

#3 Avoid cluttering your design

Too much going on in the photo will ruin it completely. Don’t be afraid to leave some blank space here and there to avoid cluttering your design completely. When it comes to modern graphic designing, minimalism is what works the best. Remember, less is more so leave some sections of the design blank, it will significantly improve the overall picture.

#4 Create contrasts

Contrasts draw attention to the photo and add a great element to your design. It can be achieved in color, font or spacing between texts and objects. However, the best way to achieve contrast is through colors. If you’re not familiar with which colors are in contrast to one another, you can use a color wheel to identify them, such as the Adobe Color feature.

#5 Create order

Last but not least, you want your design to be in order. That means you should align objects and text nicely, make sure things aren’t overlapping one another (unless you want to achieve that effect). Insert some lines between texts to separate different sections. This will make those sections stand out and it will be easier for the viewer to scan the information on the photo. This is especially important if you’re creating ads or informative posts. Make sure they are less confusing and more coordinated.
