You can’t write, when you’re just starting out, and you’ve only had your blog for a few years, just about you or your kids or that you want world peace, what fancy smartphone you bought, or just what expensive purchases you’ve made done or blah, blah blah. Or you can write, because no one is stopping you, but you don’t get organic traffic. It is better to come up with a tutorial on how to make a PayPal account step by step. It’s incredible how many people don’t know how to do this.
When you are at the beginning, the first 2-3 years old
Don’t forget, you’re just at the beginning. You must be either useful or very interesting in your articles. Big bloggers already have a tribe. That means they have some loyal readers, whom they attracted to their side. They read everything or almost everything that bloggers publish. They have hundreds of thousands of monthly visitors. Not tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands.
You can write about yourself, but what you write must attract all the attention. You’re not the only one who bought something. It’s ok if you make it a review, but it doesn’t have to be just for the sake of the sale, or a potential sale. If you like what you bought and want everyone to enjoy what you have, strongly, strongly recommend it, and tell them why they should buy it. Give them as much information as possible!
Ships adrift, I don’t know what they want
I read some blogs by mistake that are like ships adrift. I’m writing but I don’t know why either, seems to be their topic. They want to make money from it (you can see it from displaying Google Adsense ads), but it’s like they want to brag. But my God…I forgot about the money, I’ll quickly put in an article with links, maybe a small commission. But for money you have to write long, well-documented articles that at least try to be useful (like this one). Others wonder if after 7 years you are not earning anything from the blog.
He, the reader, “your boss”, because your client is your boss.
In another train of thoughts. Ways to be useful with articles:
- You teach them a skill or something, like tutorials, you educate them. You teach them to make an income online, for example.
- You are giving him a shocking piece of information that will take him out of his routine, distract him from his own problems.
- You are entertaining and have a way of writing that engages readers.
- It brought back to him some important current things he’d forgotten about, and he 100% needed them.
- You’re filling the blog with ballast, which doesn’t help anyone (not recommended).
Be results oriented
Most bloggers who don’t use any of the above points quit writing: they don’t earn anything from the blog, no money, no attention, etc. The only thing I write for is the need to express myself through writing, or to vent my frustrations.
When you’re just starting out, in 2023, you can’t be successful with a blog where you complain, where you throw mud at a star, deservedly or not, where you pick on some famous character. This slice was taken by bloggers who are considered top today.
You don’t earn money, or traffic, or comments, or any other kind of satisfaction because…you’re not useful. Or because you are not interesting, maybe only to a few people. You must be interested in blogging, which means to write an article for Google.
When you’re just starting out, you also write for Google, that is, for organic traffic, in such a way that you have a lot of visitors and you can show some decent Google Analytics Stats to any interested parties. You can’t just rely on other more titled bloggers. It’s normal to leave comments, it’s also normal for the link, but don’t abuse it.
Exceptions (who doesn’t write for Google)
Exceptions are blog authors who are writers and journalists and offline. There are pages of literature, pages of independent journalists. Established, top bloggers who started a long time ago are a special case. They formed a tribe. And the tribe follows them wherever they go. They don’t write for organic traffic necessarily. They don’t worry too much if someone doesn’t like what they write because they have their fans who are “always there”.
Another exception is made by public figures who are titled not only online but also on TV or in other media. They don’t write for Google either, they are there. Writing is their job and they do it, but because the technique has evolved, they also do it online. I’m referring to writers, journalists, or those who knew writing before WordPress played with its bitch in the sand. These exceptions do not have to write for organic traffic. They write for people who are looking for them online, and then they come online because the fans want it.
What do you actually want your reader to do after the article?
When you write, you have to be result oriented. What exactly do you want with the article? You want to sell a product, then write the honest article: I bought this, buy it too, I love it, it’s worth buying. I want you to have it too, so that you too can enjoy what I enjoy. I make some money out of it, too, because I have bills to pay.
When you want to educate, then you have to be as detailed as possible, as precise and correct as possible, to be 100% educational. For tutorial sites that get a lot of traffic and can’t get income from anything else there is Google AdSense.
The olds blogger’s ways work, but for the olds
Some take information from news sites and embellish it on their blog. There are news sites. It’s pretty rare to succeed in something like this, especially since the slices are already taken. Those who give their opinion on news from the press have already taken this slice. They build on what other news sites offer, they have high traffic, they have a tribe, they have notoriety, and it’s hard to tear their readers away from there. It’s like trying to get indoctrinated Russian soldiers on the side of Kyiv.
Final conclusion
In conclusion. To grow a blog, you must first of all rely on yourself, on writing, on articles that are useful, on organic traffic. That first of all. Everything is done with patience and perseverance. No one will blame you if you leave a comment here and there for a link to your site.
